The Interview Room

Welcome to the web conferencing portal for the DRI’s Study of Accused Priests. On this page, you’ll be able to enter into a live interview without having to share any personally identifiable information. Just click on the link below, enter a PSEUDONYM (not your real name), and wait in the virtual waiting room until a member of the research team joins you in the conference.

If you’ve already scheduled an interview time using our DRI Scheduling Tool, please enter the Interview Room a few minutes before your scheduled time so that your interview can start on time. The interviewer will be alerted when you are in the virtual waiting room. While in the waiting room, you will be able to communicate directly with the interviewer through an instant messaging feature.

If you prefer not to schedule an interview in advance so that you can avoid sharing an email address, please consult the interview hours on this page to see when interviews are being conducted. Then use the instant messaging feature in the virtual waiting room to communicate with the interviewer about when your session might begin.

It’s Safe!

Your confidentiality and safety are our highest priority. To ensure that you are properly protected, we’re using a HIPAA-compliant web-conferencing portal designed for doctors interacting with their patients. Here’s how we keep you safe:

It’s encrypted

We use the state-of-the-art AES cipher with 128-bit keys to encrypt audio/video, and HMAC-SHA1 to verify data integrity. Our web-conferencing platform meets industry privacy and security standards that comply with HIPAA regulations.

It’s anonymous

Whether you share any information about your identity during your interview is entirely up to you. However, your use of this web-based conferencing platform is entirely anonymous. The system will not collect any personally identifiable information, it will not record your IP address, and when your interview is over, all information about the online session will be automatically deleted from the server.

It’s accessible

You can conduct your web interview from your desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. If you’re on a PC, be sure to use either a Google Chrome or a Firefox browser; the system is not currently compatible with Microsoft Edge. The system also works with Safari (Apple) systems. If you’re using your phone, the system is compatible with both Android and iOS (Apple) systems. You won’t be asked to download any software. Just click on the portal, enter your pseudonym (not your real name), and get connected!

It’s Easy!

To get started with your conference, just follow these easy steps:

1. Click “Start a telemedicine call”

which you’ll find at the top of the link in the center of this page.

2. Enter a PSEUDONYM.

When asked for your name, please use a pseudonym—we don’t need to know who you are!

3. Choose whether or not you’ll appear on camera.

You can conduct your interview with video and audio, or just with audio—it’s up to you! Once you choose, you’ll be asked to authorize the use of your microphone and camera (or just your microphone, if you prefer).

4. Wait in our virtual waiting room for your interview to start.

If you need to send a message to the interviewer before the meeting gets started, just click on the text icon next to “Dulles Research” in the upper-left corner of your screen.
